Menus
We are committed to buying British meat, which is delivered by our local butcher, Stone & Edwards. We buy cheese from Franjoy Dairy in Stone. Our fish supplier is Westport Foods, Stoke on Trent and our fresh fruit and vegetables are supplied by Freshpack in Burton on Trent. Our suppliers have been working with us for many years to provide you with a quality meal combining the best produce that is available with the skills of our chefs.
As well as offering delicious traditional food such as steaks and chicken, the Burnt Gate also has game (in season) and a chefs’ specials menu. There is always fresh fish on the menu and the chefs work closely with the suppliers to provide a selection of fish that is interesting and varied. Sea bream, halibut, monkfish, and tuna being amongst those that have featured in the past.
The growth in food intolerances and preferences has been met with our Gluten Free and Dairy Free Menus, together with our superb Vegetarian options which have been received like ‘manna from heaven’. Confidence and trust are key points with diners who have food intolerances. We now have a growing following of customers who know they don’t have the embarrassment of having to explain their diet or worry that they might have a reaction to what they have been given to eat.
Our vegetarian dishes have been devised to provide something a little different, which also give another choice for non meat eaters, or meat reducers. Our home made soups are always vegetarian and gluten free.
Our dessert menu is something we are especially proud of. There is plenty of choice for those wanting traditional sweets like bread and butter pudding or apple pie, as well as the more unusual caramelised fresh fruits with brandied mascarpone and strawberry fudge cheesecake. Once again those on special diets are not forgotten there’s plenty of choice for you too!
